Telegram MCP Server: Schedule Channel Posts
Short answer: the TimeToPost MCP server schedules posts to Telegram channels through your own bot. You add the bot as a channel administrator with Post Messages, connect it once in the browser, and the agent schedules text up to 4,096 characters or albums of up to 10 photos and MP4 videos with a 1,024 character caption. It posts to channels only, not groups or private chats.

Connect Telegram to your agent
- Create a bot with BotFather and copy its token.
- Add the bot to your channel as an administrator with the Post Messages permission.
- In TimeToPost Settings, Integrations, Telegram, enter the bot token and the channel @username or numeric id starting with -100. This step needs a signed-in browser; an agent token cannot do it. TimeToPost checks the bot is an administrator that can post, then pins the numeric id so a renamed channel cannot redirect posts.
The server URL is https://api.timetopost.co/mcp (Streamable HTTP, browser sign in). Client setup files: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, ChatGPT, Gemini, n8n.
Telegram rules the server enforces
| Rule | Telegram |
|---|---|
| Text only | 4,096 characters |
| Caption with media | 1,024 characters |
| Media | Photos and MP4 videos; 2 to 10 items are sent as one album with the caption on the first item |
| Media URL | Public HTTPS without credentials; upload through TimeToPost first |
| Destination | The one channel tied to the connection; several channels are several connections |
| Retries | Only a Telegram rate limit is retried, after the wait Telegram asks for |
What your agent can do on Telegram
- Schedule or publish text posts, single photos or videos, and albums to one or several channels.
- Use the same schedule_post call as every other network, with accountIds per channel.
- Get the post link back: t.me/<channel>/<id> for public channels.
What it cannot do
- Use the draft approval queue: create_drafts does not accept Telegram yet, so schedule with schedule_post.
- Read views or reactions: the Bot API exposes no channel analytics.
- Post to groups, forum topics or private chats, or send polls and documents.

Two images become one album with the text as its caption, so the text must stay under 1,024 characters.

The same post with a long text and an image: refused at creation, because Telegram captions stop at 1,024 characters.

Telegram supports up to 10 media items and captions of at most 1,024 characters.Your bot, your channel: why the agent cannot connect Telegram
Telegram has no OAuth for channels. Posting rights belong to a bot that a channel administrator adds by hand, so the bot token is the only key. TimeToPost takes that token only from a signed-in browser session and stores it encrypted; an agent token gets a session_required refusal. Once connected, the agent can schedule to the channel but never sees or changes the bot token, and revoking the token in BotFather cuts access at once.
