Publishing for Telegram
Telegram Scheduler
Schedule posts to your Telegram channel through your own bot. TimeToPost holds each post and sends it at the time you pick: text up to 4,096 characters, a photo or video, or an album of up to 10 items. To schedule a single message in a chat by hand, Telegram has its own option: hold the send button and choose Schedule Message.
Schedule Telegram channel posts with TimeToPost. Posts are sent by your own bot through the Telegram Bot API at publish time, next to your other networks in one calendar.
No card for your first post. TimeToPost posts it at your best time.

What the Telegram scheduler can publish
Connect your bot and channel, then schedule a post.
Known limitations
- Telegram channels only: groups and private chats cannot be connected.
- Media must be uploaded to TimeToPost before scheduling; the bot sends it from a public HTTPS link.
- The Bot API does not expose channel view counts, so Telegram post analytics are not pulled into TimeToPost.
- Removing the bot from the channel, or revoking its token in BotFather, stops posting until you reconnect.

Compare
TimeToPost vs Telegram's Schedule Message vs posting by hand
Telegram can already schedule a message from its own apps, so the question is whether you need a calendar outside Telegram. Here is how the three approaches differ.
| Feature | TimeToPost | Telegram's Schedule Message | Posting by hand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who sends the post | Your own bot, as the channel | You, from a Telegram app | You, at the moment you post |
| What you need | A bot token from BotFather; the bot is a channel admin with Post Messages | Channel admin with Post Messages | Channel admin with Post Messages |
| Where you plan | Web calendar with your other networks | Inside one Telegram chat | Telegram app |
| Review before it goes out | Approval queue: edit, approve or reject | Scheduled list in the chat | You review it live |
| Other networks in the same plan | Yes: Instagram, X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Pixelfed, Telegram channels, Tumblr blogs, WordPress sites, Ghost publications, DEV articles, Whop forums, Buttondown newsletters, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Threads | Telegram only | No |
| Cost | From $12/mo (Starter, up to 30 posts a month) | Free | Free, but you have to be there |

How to schedule Telegram channel posts with TimeToPost
- Step 1
Create a bot
Message @BotFather in Telegram, create a bot and copy its token. The bot is yours; you can revoke the token in BotFather at any time.
- Step 2
Make the bot a channel admin
Add the bot to your channel as an administrator with the Post Messages permission. TimeToPost checks this when you connect.
- Step 3
Connect bot and channel
Paste the token and the channel @username or numeric ID in TimeToPost. The channel is resolved to its numeric ID so a later rename does not break posting.
- Step 4
Schedule the post
Write the text, add photos or videos, pick the time and approve. At that minute the bot sends the post and TimeToPost shows you the t.me link.

FAQ
Telegram scheduler questions
Can you schedule a message on Telegram?
Yes. In any Telegram app, hold the send button (right-click on desktop) and choose Schedule Message. In a channel only admins can do this. To schedule channel posts from a calendar with your other networks, TimeToPost sends them through your own bot.
Can a Telegram bot schedule messages by itself?
No. The Bot API's sendMessage method has no scheduling parameter, so something has to hold the post until it is due. TimeToPost holds it and calls your bot at the scheduled minute.
What does the bot need to post in my channel?
It must be an administrator of the channel with the Post Messages permission. TimeToPost checks the bot, the channel and that permission when you connect.
Can TimeToPost read my Telegram messages?
No. TimeToPost only uses the bot you created to send posts to the channel you picked. It never connects to your personal Telegram account.
How long can a scheduled Telegram post be?
4,096 characters for a text post and 1,024 characters for the caption of a photo, video or album. Longer posts are flagged before they are queued.
Can I schedule posts to a Telegram group?
No. TimeToPost posts to Telegram channels only. Groups and private chats are rejected when you connect.
