What the Bluesky scheduler can publish

Connect your Bluesky account with Bluesky sign-in or an app password and schedule a post.

Post type
Status
Operational detail
Text posts
Supported
Single posts are created with the AT Protocol createRecord call. Links in the text become clickable link facets.
Image posts
Supported
Up to 4 images per post, JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 2 MB each, each with its own alt text. Images are uploaded as blobs before the post is created.
Character limit
Supported
Posts are checked against Bluesky limits before they are queued: 300 characters counted as Bluesky counts them (graphemes, so one emoji is one character) and 3,000 bytes. A longer post is rejected so you can trim it, never cut off silently.
Retries without duplicates
Supported
Each scheduled post gets a fixed record key, and TimeToPost checks whether the record already exists before retrying, so a retry after a network error cannot post the same thing twice.
Threads (reply chains)
Not supported
Bluesky threads are not published by this scheduler. Schedule each post on its own.
Video
Not supported
Bluesky video is not published by this scheduler; use images or text.
Link preview cards
Not supported
Links are clickable in the text, but no preview card is attached to the post.

Known limitations

  • One post at a time: reply chains (threads) and video are not part of the Bluesky scheduler.
  • Accounts on a self-hosted server (custom PDS) cannot connect yet; accounts hosted on Bluesky can.
  • An app password must have direct-message access turned off. TimeToPost only asks for permission to create posts and upload images.
  • Likes and reposts are not pulled back into TimeToPost analytics for Bluesky.

FAQ

Bluesky scheduler questions

Can you schedule posts on Bluesky?

Yes. Connect your Bluesky account to TimeToPost, write the post, add up to 4 images and pick the time. TimeToPost holds the post and creates it on your account at that minute.

Do I need to give TimeToPost my Bluesky password?

No. You either sign in with Bluesky, which grants permission to create posts and upload images only, or you create an app password in Bluesky settings. An app password looks like xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx and can be revoked in Bluesky at any time without changing your real password.

How long can a scheduled Bluesky post be?

300 characters, counted the way Bluesky counts them (an emoji or accented letter counts as one character), plus a 3,000 byte cap. TimeToPost checks this when you schedule, so a post that is too long is flagged before it is queued.

Can TimeToPost schedule Bluesky threads or videos?

Not today. The Bluesky scheduler publishes single text and image posts. For a thread, schedule each post separately.

Can I post the same update to Bluesky and X?

Yes. Pick both accounts when you schedule. Each network gets its own limit check: 300 characters on Bluesky, and the X limit on X.

How much does it cost to schedule Bluesky posts?

TimeToPost plans start at $12/mo (Starter, up to 30 posts a month) and include Bluesky alongside the other networks in the same calendar.
