Editorial baseline, revised 2026-09-06
Best Time to Post on Social Media in 2026
There is no single best time to post on social media in 2026: it depends on the platform. As a starting point, work-context platforms (LinkedIn, X, Facebook) cluster around mid-morning to early afternoon on weekdays, while visual and video platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest) cluster in the evening. All times below are UTC; convert to your audience's local time before you schedule anything, and check the source label on each row before you quote a number.
Methodology, in short: Every row below is labeled. "TimeToPost data" means it cleared two thresholds: a minimum post count and a minimum number of distinct organizations, so one heavy user can't pass as a market trend. "Editorial baseline" means it hasn't cleared both yet, and we say so instead of blurring the line. Full rule and current counts on the methodology page. Read the full methodology.

Full Facebook guideBest and worst days to post
General weekly rhythm across platforms, editorial (not a TimeToPost day-level measurement yet). Platform-specific day pages below convert this into exact windows.
Monday
Monday is a rebuilding day on most platforms: audiences are catching up on work, and casual scrolling is squeezed into the commute and lunch. Engagement is below weekly average in the morning but recovers by evening as people decompress.
Tuesday
Tuesday is consistently one of the strongest posting days across platforms. Work routines have settled, audiences check social in predictable gaps, and engagement-per-impression runs above weekly average.
Wednesday
Mid-week engagement peaks on Wednesday for many professional and B2B audiences: it is the most "in-rhythm" day of the week, with reliable morning, lunch and early-evening windows. Wednesday performs especially well for educational and how-to content, when audiences are mentally in work mode but looking for productive breaks.
Thursday
Thursday rides the late-week energy shift: work content still performs in the morning, but from mid-afternoon audiences begin leaning toward entertainment and weekend planning. It is a strong all-around day, close behind Tuesday and Wednesday in average engagement, and the evening window stretches later as the week’s bedtime discipline starts to slip.
Friday
Friday mornings perform near weekly highs, but engagement falls off a cliff after mid-afternoon as audiences log off for the weekend: the steepest intraday decline of the week. Front-load anything important.
Saturday
Saturday flips the weekday pattern: the morning commute spike disappears, engagement builds slowly through a late-morning brunch window, and activity spreads more evenly across the afternoon. Total volume is lower than weekdays on X, roughly even on Instagram, and higher on TikTok.
Sunday
Sunday has a distinctive double profile: a relaxed late-morning window, a quieter afternoon, and then one of the best engagement blocks of the entire week on Sunday evening, when audiences scroll while bracing for Monday. The "Sunday scaries" window (7-10 PM local) is prime time for inspirational, planning and entertainment content alike.
Why granularity, not scale
TimeToPost does not have the posting volume to publish a global engagement report the size of the big schedulers', and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we do have is depth: this hub links out to 158 pages covering 7 platforms across 11 countries, industries, days of the week and content formats. Nobody else publishes a page for "best time to post on TikTok in Indonesia" or "best time to post on Instagram for restaurants." We do, and every one of them carries the same honest source label as this hub.
That is also the trust claim competitors do not make: we tell you when a slice of data is not first-party yet, rather than blending editorial baselines into a headline number. See the methodology below for the exact thresholds.
How to find your own best time
- 1. Start with the benchmark. Pick the platform row above, then open the full guide for the 24-hour curve.
- 2. Convert to audience time. Use the timezone where your followers, buyers or readers are active.
- 3. Test adjacent windows. Schedule similar posts in the peak hour and the two neighboring hours for two to four weeks.
- 4. Put the winner in the loop. Reserve your strongest window for important posts, then let TimeToPost queue approved drafts into those slots.
Methodology and freshness
The hub calls TimeToPost's public best-times API for every platform at build and revalidation time. When a platform returns live aggregate data, the table labels that row as TimeToPost data and shows the sample size. When a platform slice has not reached the public reporting threshold, the same row is labeled editorial baseline rather than presented as first-party proof. A slice only switches to TimeToPost data once it clears both a minimum post count and a minimum number of distinct organizations, so one high-volume account can never make a slice look representative on its own.
Pages revalidate every 24 hours. No platform currently has live aggregate data, so the last updated date above is this dataset's last revision date (2026-09-06), not a build timestamp.
This hub is wired to TimeToPost's public best-times API and currently shows clearly labeled editorial baselines until each platform slice reaches the sample threshold for public aggregate reporting. Read the full methodology, sample-size rule and current dataset status.

Frequently asked questions
General
What is the overall best time to post on social media?
There is no single best hour for every social platform. Use mid-morning for work and news platforms such as LinkedIn, X and Facebook, and evening windows for video, visual discovery and entertainment platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and many Instagram formats.
Does posting time still matter in 2026?
Yes. Posting time is not stronger than content quality, but it still affects first-hour engagement, which can influence whether a post gets expanded distribution.
Should I use UTC or my audience timezone?
Use your audience's timezone. This hub shows platform benchmarks in UTC for comparability across platforms, and the country pages convert the same curves into local clock time for 11 countries.
Where does TimeToPost get the best-time data?
Rows labeled TimeToPost data come from anonymized aggregate posts scheduled through TimeToPost, after clearing both a post-count and an organization-diversity threshold. Rows labeled editorial baseline use published industry research until that platform slice clears both thresholds. See the methodology page for the exact numbers.
