How to use the Creator Earnings Calculator
- Pick the platform. Choose YouTube, YouTube Shorts, TikTok or Instagram. The tab sets the published revenue share where one exists.
- Enter your monthly views. Use views from your own analytics for a typical recent month.
- Enter your own rate. Type the RPM you see in your earnings report, or switch to CPM and add the share of views that showed an ad and your share of the revenue.
- Read the estimate. See the first month, the 12 month total and the views a monthly goal would need. Download the 12 month CSV if you want to keep it.
How the creator earnings calculator works
The formula
Earnings = views ÷ 1,000 × RPM. In CPM mode the effective RPM is CPM × share of views that showed an ad × your revenue share. For example, 100,000 views at a 2.00 RPM is 200 for the month, and 2,400 across 12 flat months.
The 12 month view applies your optional monthly growth to the view count, then multiplies each month by the same rate. It is arithmetic on your inputs, not a forecast.
What the platforms publish
YouTube publishes its revenue shares: 55% of net Watch Page ad revenue for long videos and 45% of the allocated Creator Pool amount for Shorts. TikTok and Instagram do not publish a revenue split or an average rate, so this tool has no default for them and asks for yours.
No industry averages are built in. RPM varies widely with audience country, niche, video length and time of year, and a borrowed average would make the result look more certain than it is.
Limitations
Sponsorships, memberships, affiliate links, gifts and bonuses are outside the formula unless you fold them into your RPM. Taxes, currency conversion and payment thresholds are not modeled. Treat the result as a planning number built from your own figures.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my RPM?
On YouTube it is in YouTube Studio under Analytics, then Revenue. On TikTok and Instagram it is in the earnings or monetization screen of your own account. This tool does not guess it for you, because the figure depends on your audience, topic, video length and season.
What is the difference between RPM and CPM?
RPM is revenue per 1,000 views after the platform takes its share, so it is closest to what you receive. CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions before the split, and not every view shows an ad. Use RPM when you have it. Use CPM mode when you only know the advertiser rate.
How does YouTube pay long videos and Shorts?
YouTube pays Partner Program creators 55% of net revenue from ads on the Watch Page for long videos. For Shorts, revenue is pooled and YouTube pays 45% of the amount allocated to the creator, based on your share of eligible Shorts views. Those are the published percentages, and the tool uses them as editable defaults.
How does TikTok pay creators?
TikTok pays inside its creator rewards program based on qualified views, and it does not publish a single RPM. Eligibility rules and countries change, so check the program page in the app. Enter the RPM that your own earnings screen shows.
Can Instagram creators use this?
Yes, with a rate you derive yourself. Instagram pays through programs such as bonuses and subscriptions rather than a per-view price, so divide what you earned in a month by your views for that month and enter the result as RPM.
Is my data stored or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded. The CSV is generated on your device.
