How to use the Instagram Bio Generator
- Say what you do. Write one phrase about who you help and with what, such as "home workouts for busy parents". This is the line most bios lead with.
- Add keywords and a last line. Add two or three keywords separated by commas and, if you like, a last line such as "Free plan below" that points to your link.
- Pick a bio. You get up to 10 bios that fit in 150 characters. Turn emoji off for a plainer style, or shuffle for a different order.
- Edit with a live count. Tap Edit to move a bio into the editor, change the wording and watch the count against 150 before you copy it.
How the bios are built and checked
Layouts, not made-up claims
There are 12 layouts. Each combines your words in a different order: niche first, name first, keywords as a list, a "helping you with" line, and so on. A layout that needs a value you left empty is skipped rather than shown half filled.
If a bio runs past 150, the middle lines go first so the opening line and your last line stay, and then it is cut at a whole word. Those bios are labelled "shortened to fit".
Counting and limits
Counting and the limit come from the Bio Length Checker on this site, which counts Unicode characters, so an emoji counts once. The 150 figure is widely documented but not on an Instagram page we could fetch, so it is labelled approximate. Check the bio Instagram saves before you move on.
Frequently asked questions
How many characters can an Instagram bio have?
150 characters. That figure is widely documented, but we could not fetch an Instagram help page stating it in October 2026, so treat it as approximate. Every bio here is kept at or under 150, counted as the characters you see.
What should an Instagram bio say?
Who you are or what you do, who it is for, and what to do next. Lead with the part that matters most, because a long bio can be cut short on some screens. Plain topic words, such as "strength training" rather than a slogan, make it clear at a glance what you post.
Can I put a link in my Instagram bio text?
Links typed into the bio text are not the same as the website or links field on your profile. Use the profile's links field for your URL and use the last line of the bio to point to it, such as "Free plan below".
Do line breaks work in an Instagram bio?
Yes, the bios here use line breaks and they generally survive when you paste into the edit profile screen. Each line break counts as one character toward the 150.
Is this generator using AI?
No. It fills a set of hand-written bio layouts with your own words, so nothing is invented about you. It runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
