Publishing for LinkedIn

LinkedIn Post Scheduler

Schedule LinkedIn posts to your personal profile from one calendar. TimeToPost holds each post and publishes it through LinkedIn's Posts API at the time you pick or at your best time, with up to 3,000 characters and one image or video.

Schedule LinkedIn text, image and video posts with TimeToPost. Posts publish to your personal profile through the LinkedIn Posts API, and each one is marked published only after LinkedIn confirms it.

No card for your first 3 posts. TimeToPost posts them at your best time.

What the LinkedIn scheduler can publish

LinkedIn publishing is open to customers. Connect your personal profile and schedule a text, image or video post.

Post type
Status
Operational detail
Text posts
Supported
Up to 3,000 characters, checked when the post is created. LinkedIn formatting characters are escaped, so what you type is what readers see.
Image posts
Supported
One JPEG, PNG or GIF per post, up to 10 MB, uploaded to LinkedIn before the post is created.
Video posts
Supported
One MP4 per post, from 3 seconds to 30 minutes and up to 500 MB. It uploads in parts and the post is created once LinkedIn finishes processing.
Hashtags and @mentions
Limited
Hashtags publish as plain text, and @mentions publish as plain names.
First comment
Not supported
Commenting needs the Community Management API permission w_member_social_feed, which this connection does not use.
PDF carousels, polls, multiple images
Not supported
One image or one video per post. Documents and polls are not published through this provider.
Company Pages
Not supported
Posts go to your personal profile.

Known limitations

  • LinkedIn native scheduling is not used; TimeToPost holds the post and publishes through the Posts API at publish time.
  • LinkedIn access lasts about 60 days and this connection has no refresh token, so reconnect when TimeToPost asks. A post due after that date needs the reconnect to go out.
  • LinkedIn shares likes, comments and impressions only with Marketing Developer Platform apps, so read post stats in LinkedIn itself.

Schedule LinkedIn posts into the hours that already perform

LinkedIn is read during the working day. Queue opinion and how-to posts into weekday windows when your network is at a desk, and use the chart to pick the exact hour.

TimeToPost vs LinkedIn's own scheduler vs posting by hand

LinkedIn has a free scheduler in its composer, so the real question is whether you need a queue, approvals and your other networks in one place.

How to schedule a LinkedIn post with TimeToPost

  1. Step 1

    Connect your LinkedIn profile

Approve TimeToPost once with the scopes openid, profile and w_member_social. That lets it read your name and post as you. It cannot read your messages or your feed.

  2. Step 2

Write the post and attach media

Write up to 3,000 characters and add one image or one video. A post over the limit is refused with the exact overage, for example 120 over, so nothing gets cut mid-sentence.

  3. Step 3

    Pick the time

Choose a date and time or take the best-time suggestion. Approve the post and it joins the queue with your other networks.

  4. Step 4

TimeToPost publishes and checks the receipt

At that minute it sends the post to the LinkedIn Posts API and marks it published only when LinkedIn returns a 201 with a post ID. You get the link to the live post.

How it works

One live loop for LinkedIn publishing

01

Connect your accounts

Connect your own LinkedIn account and any other network you use. TimeToPost publishes to Instagram, X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Pixelfed, Telegram channels, Tumblr blogs, WordPress sites, Ghost publications, DEV articles, Write.as blogs, Whop forums, Buttondown newsletters, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads, and YouTube.

02

Approve queue

Drafts from your ideas, commits, trends and SEO topics wait in one review queue. Edit the platform variant, approve it, or reject it.

03

Auto-publish at best time

Approved posts publish from the TimeToPost queue when the account timing model says your audience is most likely to respond.

FAQ

LinkedIn scheduler questions

Can TimeToPost schedule LinkedIn posts?

Yes. Connect your personal profile, write the post, add one image or video if you want one, and pick the time. TimeToPost publishes it through the LinkedIn Posts API.

Can you schedule LinkedIn posts for free?

Yes. LinkedIn's own composer schedules posts for free, up to 3 months ahead. TimeToPost starts at $12/mo (Starter, up to 30 posts a month) and adds an approval queue, best-time suggestions and your other networks in one calendar.

Can TimeToPost post to a LinkedIn Company Page?

No. TimeToPost publishes to your personal LinkedIn profile.

Can I schedule a LinkedIn carousel or PDF?

No. A TimeToPost LinkedIn post carries text plus one image or one video. Documents, polls and multi-image posts are not published.

What happens if LinkedIn does not confirm a post?

TimeToPost does not retry blindly, because that can post twice. You see "LinkedIn delivery could not be confirmed. Check your profile before retrying." and you decide.

What happens to a video LinkedIn is still processing?

The post waits. TimeToPost saves its upload checkpoint and resumes from it, so the video is not uploaded again and the post is created once LinkedIn finishes.

Can an AI agent schedule LinkedIn posts?

Yes. The TimeToPost MCP server lets an AI agent draft or schedule LinkedIn posts with the same limits, and drafts can wait for your approval.
